New idea

from thinking about how our music video isnt progressing anytime any soon
we have decided to think about a horror spin
maybe taking a spin of twilight
also it is sterotypical of the lyrics of be under the moonlight, \
so this going be lead chracter who falls in love with a beast (monster)
for this we are going to have to get costumes which is ideal time of year because it is halloween time.

Inspiration idea for our music video

This is Pixie Lott, on Red or black TV show. Pixie has cleverly used a technique to get other images of herself imatated so it looks liker there is more than one of her. This gives the audience sense of "wow" factor. This is an idea that me and grace would like to incorpate to our music video.

Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment
When filming our music video we will have to think carefully about the risks that could be involved. When in the Burn Valley, we will have to look at the surroundings and location that we choose to film the scene in and make sure there isn’t any bottles, rubbish or any kind of litter about that we could sit/stand on that we could hurt ourselves on, also make sure we keep away from dog walkers as people often let their dogs off in the burn valley for exercise and play. Setting up the camera and tripod in the burn valley we will have to pick a secure part where there is no hills or bumps in the ground as then there is no risk of the tripod falling over etc… and getting broken. Problems could occur with the weather when filming too. As we have designed out a shooting calendar for outdoor areas, if it is raining when we come to shoot in the burn valley then we will have to re arrange our schedule for the next day or change it for a day when we are supposed to be shooting in the video room for green screens. Also in regards to the song, we will have to come up with a plan were we can here the song playing so we can lip sync to it when we are recording, however not having the song on film as it will most likely be on an IPod attached to a docking station were we can hear the song out loud. We will take into consideration the surroundings and atmosphere and will film in a place where nobody is or let the public know that we are going to be filming there for a little while and may have some music on.
Regarding SKY Lounge, when filming in there, because we only have a short space of time to use the club, we will have to make sure that everything is set up quite quickly. By doing this we will check the floor for any broken glasses or bottles and anything that we could trip or fall on. Because we are going to be walking along the bar with heels on, we will make sure there is somebody there off camera watching us for if we fall or stumble they will be there to catch us or help us keep stable. Also because it is a club, there will be alcohol involved. We are going to make sure nothing is consumed when filming, but to make it look like a party atmosphere, have glasses out and and bottles etc… but being under supervision by someone who works at SKY to make sure nothing is taken or stole.
For the street scenes of our video when the characters are ‘fighting’ and arguing, we are going to make sure this looks as professional and realistic as possible, however putting our safety and safety of the characters first by making sure we film as far away as needed to create the scene. We will have to look out for the public in the street also when filming as we are going to be in a public place, however this part of the music video will only take up to the most 20 minutes to film as it is going to be just a snippet of the song.
When using the TV studio, we are going to have to be careful with the objects around us like speakers, screens, computers and other filming equipment. This is just to make sure that we don’t trip over any unwanted wires etc… before filming we will scan the area thoroughly to remove any unwanted items away from where we are filming.
In regards to costumes, maxi dresses are going to be warn in the burn valley. As these are long dresses we will make sure we don’t trip over them or get them caught in the tripod or camera as these could be ripped therefore would have to be paid for and also would ruin the video as we would have to rearrange our costumes.

Shot count task- The saturdays- All fired up

The video to All Fired Up has 163 shot counts which some are very fast paced especially throughout the chorus of the song. The beginning of the video flows with the softness and mood of the song with slow shots with the camera panning round the girls. The video then goes onto each girl individually showing their sexuality appealing to the audience of teenage girls and boys. Although the song only has 163 shots it is 3:16 minutes long which is an average time for a pop song, and song video's in this day and age.
Below is the video to the song All Fired Up.

Looking at a digipak

I took this digipak and deconstructed the digipak to see what we could get out diigak and apply the conventions to our own digipak. So our real media product is just like the real product that someone would regonise of the shelves.

Song Choice

We Choose this song from our oringal song choice of Can't fight the monlight as we decided that this would be easier than doing Pixie Lott- All about Tonight, as we would not be easily influenced by the video as this video has parts of the film in. Our intentions are going to make the song still have strong meaning but have a twist on it, by incorpating bit sof nature eg such as flowers such as daises, which can be said to be delicate which this song issue is. So really it can be linked in that way.

PERMISSION REQUEST.

Our Song choice

we have choosen for our media group was too choose an older song rather than a chart song such as Pixie Lott- all about tonight

we choose to not do pixie lott as i we think it would been hard to do a new video that didnt just copy of pixies.

Leanne rimes -cant fight the moonlight doesnt have a video exactly as it incorpotes the film caypte ugly shots which cayote ugly came out in 2001.

DigiPak anaylsis Katy Perry -Teenage Dream

The front of the digipak

The front of digipaks are usually filled with the artist. This is to promote the star to sell the record and for the audience to feel connected with the song and the star. Katy Perry's digipak conforms to this common convention. Allot of the time the artists on the front of digipaks are presented provocatively and revealing to grab the audience's eye. In Katy Perry's front cover this conforms to this with the minimal to none clothing surrounded by a pink cloud. Her facial expression also grabs the audience, this is known as the male gaze and is targeting a wider audience. The use of primary colours such as pink and baby blue in this digipak give us the feel that this is definitely a pop genre style of music. This mainly targets young teens and also children with the use of a candy theme. Younger children would see the artist floating on candy floss which gives a young appeal. The overall pictures and theme of the digipak are photographs with a bit of design in the clouds. I would expect to see a very pink a girls cover in a pop digipak which is what katy's digipak conforms to.

Back of the digipak.

Usually in most digipaks they consist of the album tracks and bar code which has the digipak theme running through. Katy's digipak conforms to this. She uses the candy theme running through the back cover with candy like font writing which is pink and candy floss backdrop. The lettering of the tracks fits in with the pop genre as its very cute, girly and, pink.

Side of the digipak

The side picture of the digipak just presents a closeup picture of Katy on candy floss again representing the male gaze. This is to draw the attention of the eyes to her face and we are more like;y to buy the album as we feel connected to her. The side cover also conforms to the candy floss theme which is targeting the target audience.

Cd compartment

The CD compartment also continues the candy theme with the use of Katy making a cake. The black back drop is really effective here as it brings out the bright and girly colours of the cakes. The use of Katy making a cake here make her seem very sweet, Innocent and young which is representing her target audience. This cover will behind the CD holder, the CD holder is common in digipaks as it keeps the Cd secure, and yet is still lightweight. The CD's themselves also carry the candy theme with bright colours representing doughnuts. This again portrays the young sweet target audience.

I like this digipak. The theme of candy makes me feel young and that the genre is more to my taste. I also feel connected with the artist by the pictures on the front which make me feel I could connect with the lyrics of the song. This shows how the digipak is an important aspect for the sales of albums.

What is a digipak?

What is a digipak?

we looked to see what a didigpak coinsists of so we can make our final digipak look professional as possible. We looked at several digipaks to make sure they matched to our final products.

Digipacks are a type of CD packaging made out of card stock or other heavy paper/cardboard material. Digipacks can flip open like a book, or it can have three parts, so that one portion of the packaging opens to the right and one to the left, with the CD in the center portion. Usually, the portion of the digipack that hold the CD is made of plastic like a traditional jewel case CD - the plastic part is simply attached to the paper background.

Dimensions of a digipak:

The most common size is the 4pp Digipak which measures 139.5mm x 6mm x 125.5 mm.

What is the material used in a digipak?

This CD and DVD packaging comes in double thickness card, hardback or textured cover options made from environmental friendly materials.
Digipaks usually made with 300 gsm card, it can be 'Glossy' or 'Varnished' A 'Pop Girl Band' would use glossy because it portrays their glamour and femininity.
The colours in the digipak also determine the target audience. If I were looking to buy a pop CD I'd look for colours that are bright a feminine such as pink.

Digipak Analysis

For my analysis of looking at Cd covers i decided to look ata rtists which have influenced me to think about a choice of what i would like to do for my music video and what i would like to aspire to
Katy Perry

Katy perrys album is called tennage dream and looking at andrew goodwins theory she has cleverly used her album to illsturate what her album is called. katy perry on her album she is in clouds naked, this shows seductiveness and also shows that star image quality as she is the main focus of the album. This will also appeal greatly to males because she is

Music advertisement conventions

When making a music advertisement it is important to understand the conventions of an advert as all of these convention work together to grab the audiences attention. Without these the advert would be dull, boring and useless...

Nine Frame Analysis

This still frame took from examples video of changed the way you kissed me is a lad looking at his reflection in the mirror, this could be interpreted as that he is thinking about the girl how she has changed him. This close up shows the expression on his face,of him with a puzzled look on his face. Having the video in black and white expresses to the viewer that it is more of a serious issue.

This close up of his hands shows his hands, this could show desperation and that he misses her cause she changed him. The water displayed looks so clear and the way it is put it could also be intrepeted as tears.

Lip Sync Task

In this lip sync task we experimented to see how lip syncing works. We used finalcut and experimented with text and motion paths. This will help with choosing in what to do in the actual coursework piece of the music video. I think this lip sync task is done very well, and not alot of floors. I think over summer i am going to learn more about final cut in order to make my coursework task less stressful and a lot more easier.

Music Video Concept Analysis

This video has a story narrative throughout, this makes it easier for the audience to understand the lyrics of the song. I think having a narrative makes the audience be able to feel as if they can relate to the song. This can make a song popular in the industry as everyone has had some sort of heartbreak of someone, and someone they do not wish to see again, So i think this video fits in perfectly, and will sell very good.
The Mise en scence, used in the video perfectly fits in the with the genre, this then allows for the again the audience to beabl;e relate to it more and make it more realistic,.
